Pewter cross of St James with red crystal centre and St Michael’s Way shell bale, part of the Pilgrimage range on an 18" curb chain.
Also known as the Cross of St. James, this symbol is known widely by pilgrims throughout the world who take the trail through France and Spain to Santiago de Compostela along St Michael’s Way. The scallop shell is the traditional symbol of the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain. This route crosses Cornwall from St Uny church to St Michael’s Mount before joining the Way of St James. It is a route taken by Irish, Welsh and Cornish pilgrims, that avoids the tempestuous seas around Land’s End and allows them to visit the important shrine of St Michael’s Mount before embarking for Spain.
